Primary Maths and English Tuition

All of our tutors are experienced primary teachers. We plan each session carefully around the needs of each individual child. Our online Zoom sessions offer each child a weekly one-to-one lesson with a Maths / English teacher.

One to one tuition sessions are conducted on Zoom and cost:

  • £27.00 for 45 minutes

  • £36.00 for one hour

At Tutors that Count, our experienced teachers have a full understanding of the requirements of  Key Stage Two, and how to prepare for the Year Six SATS and High School. Many of our teachers are specialists in their subjects so you can rely on the knowledge that your child is working with a tutor who is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. We like our lessons to be as interactive as possible with our Primary students and we have special Maths kits that are available to purchase if you would like to

Meet Elaine - Our KS2 English / Maths Teacher

Teaching experience

I was a Primary School teacher for over thirty years, in a variety of Primary Schools mainly as a class teacher and curriculum leader in English and Humanities, but also working directly with Year Six children supporting them with SATs. I have taught both KS1 and 2 classes working with children from a variety of backgrounds and abilities. Since leaving teaching I have worked as a tutor in London and now Suffolk, working with children as young as six, through to children in Year six, from Phonics to 11 plus.

Why do you tutor English?

I studied English at university as part of my Bed Hons, Language and Literacy has always been a passion for me. My experience over the years especially as a Literacy coordinator has meant I’ve overseen the implementation of various government initiatives in Schools, this has given me a vast collection of resources to draw on and an instinct for what works with individual children and I can adapt my teaching accordingly.

Other interests

I can always be found with a book, but I love to cycle my sit up and beg bicycle around the Suffolk Lanes. I paint, draw, sew and knit, I also love to grow things in my tiny garden. I’m

very interested in becoming involved with my local community as I have recently moved to Suffolk.

Elaine is able to offer some face-to-face lessons in Wenhaston Suffolk and the surrounding areas

Recent Reviews from our Parents

I cannot recommend Elaine enough. Work for my daughter is sent through a couple of days on advance so I can print it off ready. We get the option of face to face or zoom sessions. All work covered is explained to me by the Tutor. The Tutor is always available to talk to during the week should I have questions or feedback regarding how my daughter is doing at school or subject areas she is struggling on so it can be included in the lessons. The most important thing to me is my daughter enjoys her lessons. Thank you Elaine!

Meet Jess - Our KS2 Maths Teacher

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching for eight years across a range of schools of all sizes. I currently teach in upper KS2 but I have taught all Year Groups from 1-6 during my teaching career. I have enjoyed leading a number of subjects, including PE, MFL, Art and Computing. However, Maths has become my specialism and passion.

Why do you tutor Maths?

I am and have always been, very enthusiastic about numbers, Maths and problem solving. Maths was rated 'Outstanding' at the school where I was Maths Lead. I use a ‘Maths Mastery approach’ to learning and am an avid advocate for instilling confidence in my pupils. I understand how to support those children who have been struggling and how to stretch more able students as I adapt my approach accordingly to help pupils reach their own full potential.

Other Interests

Out of work I really enjoy anything messy and creative: drawing, painting, digital art – I love it all.

Recent Reviews from our Parents

We’ve had the pleasure of inviting Julie into our home for weekly tutoring sessions for almost fifteen months and she continues to be an invaluable source of support and confidence for our son.Lacking in confidence with Maths in particular, his school identified that he was beginning to struggle to keep up with the pace of learning. With Julie’s weekly support and encouragement our son’s confidence shot up and he finished the school year achieving the expected standard which we were thrilled about.
Julie is patient and engaging and goes out of her way to create fun lessons which are targeted to our son's individual interests.

I love Julie being my tutor because she is funny, kind and she makes up lots of fun learning games including some of my favourite characters from Pokemon and Harry Potter! She helps me by explaining things really well and I look forward to seeing Julie every week.

Recent Reviews from our Parents

We have had a tough time with huge issues last year in Maths, due to poor teaching, lockdown, frustration and simply not finding my sons "Eureka moment". But Polly has worked wonders with my son during the last lockdown till now. To the point that he passed his entrance exam into high school and also achieved a scholarship. I will be forever grateful for the kindness, support, understanding and positive vibes given to my son by Polly. Her teaching methods are fun, and so is she. If your thinking of getting a tutor Tutors that count won’t let you down!
